INTELLIGENCE-TEMPERAMENT-CONFORMATION

We are blessed to live in beautiful NE Washington, just a few miles from the Canadian border.   We have miles and miles of wilderness out of our back door and our Dogos enjoy traipsing around with our family at every opportunity.   These dogs are extremely attentive to us and our children.  When our children are swimming, they are right by the shore babysitting and when we are hiking in the woods they keep us in their vision.  Sometimes just for fun, we quickly hide behind a tree or something to see how long it takes them to notice our absence and it is usually within seconds that they are hightailing it back to find us.  I suspect we think it is more fun than they do as they take their job as loyal protector quite seriously.
We don't hunt with our Dogos but we live in an area full of large game including cougar and bear.  We have had bear problems in the past so we have a very large enclosed back yard that we allow our dogs to play freely in and otherwise they have to be supervised.  Not so much for their protection but for the protection of cubs, fawns and other wildlife that would incite their powerful hunting instinct.                                                                                                                                          Dogos have unbelievable stamina and strength. They need plenty of exercise.  They would do best with a large enclosed yard but also would do well in an apartment where there was sufficient daily exercise.   Dogos are large dogs but easy on the home.  At least ours are.  They are always near, but not in the way.  They shed very little and have no "musky" odor as some other breeds do.  We love our dogos.  Enough great things cannot be said about this breed.  I guess if I had to come up with one word it would be "loyal".  Where you are is where they want to be. Period!!!!!
